A Matter Of Time And Place
April 2008: This is your servant looking across the Surrender Field at Yorktown, an emotional moment considering my Revolutionary War roots. A Redcoat ancestor surrendered to General Washington here. I could imagine the drama and the gravity of the moment, the one nobody expected, especially not Lord Cornwallis.
On a clear day, and with a clear head, you could see history. A lot of things were clear on this day -- a sense of purpose, a sense of unity, a sense of belonging. I have this picture on my computer at work. If ever I need an escape, if but for a few seconds, it's right on the desktop wallpaper.
